It might be surprising to some, to mention the two within the same sentence. We'll talk about their legacies and possible similarities in how these two movements have impacted broader American culture.

Dr. Yohuru Williams teaches history at Fairfield University. He is also the author of "Black Politics/White Power: Civil Rights, Black Power and Black Panthers in New Haven," among other books.
