Erik McDuffie, a historian, was on hand to  discuss his latest book Sojourning for Freedom: Black Women, American  Communism, and the Making of Black Left Feminism. Joined  in  conversation by Ruthie Gilmore: a professor of geography in CUNY's  doctoral program in earth and environmental sciences, who is known as an  activist as well as an intellectual, and is currently president of the  American Studies Association (ASA).
